OUGHT TO / SHOULD – give advice or opinion
• - You look sick, you should see a doctor
• - The English should give Northern Ireland back to the Irish
• - You look blue. Don’t you think you ought to go home and get some rest

(don’t you think …. Is possible before should or ought to in all situations)

SHOULD

Is used when something is not right or not what we expect
• - I wonder where Amar is. He should be here by now
• - They shouldn’t be playing rugby right now. They should be at university
• - Look there’s lightning in the sky. He shouldn’t be playing Golf

SHOULD
Is used when we expect something to happen
• - I’ve been studying hard for the exam. I think I should pass
• - Don’t you thing I should get a pay rise? I do a lot around here
